What to Expect

Going to a new church can be intimidating. What will happen there? Will I be welcome? What will I wear? Will I fit in? What about my kids, can they come too? Will it be safe for my kids?  Question Mark

Here we'll do our best to set your mind at ease!  If you have questions that aren't answered here, feel free to send us an email or give us a call.

What happens at First Church?

We usually begin our services with some announcements about what is going on in the life of the church.  Then you'll have a chance to meet some people in an informal greeting time.  Following that, we'll sing some songs (a blend of contemporary and traditional tunes), pray, and hear a message from a passage of the Bible.  We will also receive an offering during the service, but we don't expect visitors to give anything!  We'll be glad you're with us, the offering is for current members who give to the Lord with glad hearts.

Who is welcome at First Church?

DiversityEveryone is welcome at First Church.  We are eager to share our time of worship with you.  You belong here.

What do people at First Church wear?

People will wear anything from blue jeans and a polo to suits with ties.  Most people wear nice slacks and a collared shirt, but you can wear what you'd like!

Will I fit in?

You bet!  We encourage you to stick around after the service to meet people and talk with some of our members.  We have a time for conversation with coffee, cookies, and pop downstairs in our fellowship hall after worship.

What opportunities do you have for my kids?

Please check out our "children" page.  You'll find all the relevant information there.  We love kids here at First Church!

Is First Church safe for my kids?

Yes! All of our volunteers who work with kids have passed a background check and we have taken additional measures to ensure the safety of all children at First Church.
